USCG Approved

flotation foam

SAN DIEGO, CA — Effekt LLC and Zotefoams plc are pleased to announce the official US Coast Guard acceptance of HydroZOTE® flotation foam for USCG Use Codes 1, 1F, 2, 2F, 3, 3F, 5R, 5H, 5WV at a minimum of ½” thickness.  The foam is up to three times lighter than PVC foams, virtually waterproof, and measurably more buoyant than competing flotation foams.

“This is a really proud moment for us,” said Rob Falken, Managing Director at Effekt LLC. “To have the official acceptance of the US Coast Guard validates what we set out to achieve in providing a vastly improved flotation foam” he continued. HydroZOTE® closed cell foam is produced in the Zotefoams exclusive nitrogen expansion process. The foam contains none of the carcinogens found in competing flotation foams and uses no blowing agents. The material also does not contain Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFC’s), isobutane, or isopentane (VOC’s) so there is no outgassing of any of these compounds.

HydroZOTE® was previously adopted and proven by O’Neill (www.oneill.com) for use in non-CGA competition wakeboard and waterski life vests and used by big wave surfer Ian Walsh. Be on the lookout for US Coast Guard Accepted HydroZOTE® life vests and floatation aids from O’Neill and other market leading brands in the coming months.

The US Coast Guard Accepted HydroZOTE® flotation foam will be prominently displayed at next week’s Outdoor Retailer tradeshow in Salt Lake City, Utah. Please stop by the Zotefoams booth# 155-605 to see the foam firsthand and to learn more about its remarkable aspects.

With ultra-lightweight properties, a V Factor of 98, and an ability to be molded to shape, HydroZOTE® is poised to be an agent of change.
